Airbus says only Virgin asked for big A380 delay

European plane maker Airbus said on Tuesday that only
Britain's Virgin Atlantic has asked for a substantial delay in its delivery of Airbus' new A380 airliner. Airbus Chief Commercial Officer said:" Sometimes they ask for a month or two but nothing substantial,". He said Virgin had asked for the delay primarily because it was behind schedule with its plans to design the interior of the plane. Virgin Atlantic said on Monday it had delayed plans to start flying the mammoth new 555-seat A380 double-decker aircraft until late 2007, more than a year later than originally planned. Virgin is one of 11 airlines that have ordered the plane. Airbus is owned 80 percent by EADS Madrid and 20 percent by Britain's BAE Systems.
